How to Report a Stolen Cash App Card and Dispute Charges

Speed matters. Federal law caps your liability at $50 if you report within two business days of learning about the theft, but that ceiling climbs to $500 after that window and can become unlimited if you wait more than 60 days after your statement is sent.1eCFR. 12 CFR 1005.6 – Liability of Consumer for Unauthorized Transfers Cash App also advertises zero fraud liability on unauthorized card charges when you report promptly.2Cash App Security. Lock the Card Before Anything Else

Locking blocks every transaction — in-store swipes, online purchases, everything — and it’s reversible, so it costs you nothing while you deal with the rest.3Cash App. Temporarily Lock My Card

  • Tap the Money tab on the home screen
  • Select the card image at the top
  • Tap Lock card

Every transaction attempt is declined automatically once the card is locked. If you know the card is stolen rather than misplaced, don’t bother unlocking it later — go straight to filing the stolen-card report.

File the Stolen Card Report in the App

Locking is a pause; the report is the shut-off. Filing it permanently disables the sixteen-digit card number so no one can use the physical card or the stored card details online.4Cash App. Report Lost or Stolen Card

  • Tap the Money tab
  • Select the card at the top of the screen
  • Choose Get card support
  • Select Report card issue
  • Choose Card stolen/compromised
  • Follow the prompts to confirm
